Hi all,
I have a couple things I wanted to share with you.
First of all, I’ll be vending my Werk & Love wares at a cool event in Brooklyn next month on Saturday, March 7, from 2-6pm. It’s going to a chill afternoon of crafting, community and art classes. You can take a class or purchase an open studio session for $25. Check out more information here: https://www.dobedous.com/afternoonartretreat-march7. Ping me if you’re interested and I’ll also share my 10% “friends and family” discount code with you.
Secondly…I’m working on a new book! It’s a book about productivity, especially written for neurodivergent brains - and the current title is How to Work Less, But Get More Done (even if you’re ADHD af). The book is meant to help people (especially my ND peeps) manage their time effectively, so that they can make progress in all the ways that matter to them, whether that means doing a great job with a work project, writing a book, learning to code, or anything else they dream up. It’s meant to be VERY short and full of practical tips, a “read it in an afternoon” type of book. This book is the adult companion to a couple children’s books I am also working on to help support kids with ADHD.
I felt inspired to write this book because I think that many people feel overwhelmed by their daily life - whether that includes an 80-hour-a-week job that’s killing them or whether they are drowning in the expectations of being a caretaker. They are so exhausted that they feel there’s no way to do anything else that matters to them - and they quietly put aside other desires or goals. I know how that goes.
The “self-help” genre can sometimes be cringe, but I thought about it, and a lot of the productivity advice that already exists out there is really toxic. It’s all about shaming or hating yourself into achieving. I wanted to offer an alternative. Not to toot my own horn, but I also think that my approach to productivity is way more effective.
Anyways, that’s the project. I mostly just wanted to tell you about it! I’d love any feedback that you might have on it, from the topic to the title etc. Is it interesting to you? Is it not? What would make it more compelling? I am about 60% through with the first draft at present and I’ll share more later on. I’m planning to self-publish currently, but I’d also be completely open to being published so if you have any hook-ups on that front, I’d love that too ;).
I also wanted to take a beat to thank you for being here. I appreciate it so much! Thank you.
XOXO,
Cathy
