There’s this young person I keep worrying about.
She is incredibly smart. Incredibly talented. Incredibly kind.
Everything she puts even one little finger on turns into a masterpiece. A work of art.
There’s no style she can’t master. There’s no medium she won’t try and succeed at.
She doodles portraits with the leftover ketchup and mustard on her plate. She makes clothes without patterns. She writes stories on leftover printer paper.
She'll dream of new concepts and wake in the middle of the night with new ideas that she quickly tappy-taps into her phone.
She can read a person and understand their deeper motivations and desires in under 30 seconds.
She’s a visionary…the kind of artist that comes around once in a generation. She can lead. She can change the world.
But…she’s NOT doing that.
Because she’s never seen another person like her take the thing she can do and turn it into money and respect and influence.
She believes only engineering or math or medicine are worth something, because that’s what everyone says.
She believes you can have either boredom & stability or art & ruin. Nothing in between.
So she makes herself as small and quiet and pleasant as possible.
She takes whatever’s left in the pie tin after everyone else already cut their slice.
It’s almost like she senses this uncanny power she’s capable of, and finds it terrifying. Dangerous.
So she does her best to stuff down her weirdness and hide it under the rug, in the closet, behind the sofa.
But no matter what does, more keeps dripping out where people can see it, all the time.
The form of this person stars to blur and change in my mind's eye. She becomes he, he becomes they, they are both young and old, rich and poor.
Who is this person? You might wonder.
...They're me.
But they're you, too.
They're our daughter, sister, niece, and mother.
They're also our son, brother, nephew and father.
I am not trying to be mystical, I promise.
The world absolutely REQUIRES the creative things that we’re capable of. It requires them desperately even while simultaneously and loudly proclaiming their worth-less-ness.
And you can leverage that.
But...
If you’re not aware of what the options are for your skillset...
If you’re not setting up your own timing…
If you have someone in your ear constantly telling you that it's useless to try...
....then it’s so easy to get slowed down, or feel pushed aside or get "stuck" in a particular income level or niche.
I’ve spoken to so many people who were caught in a sort of “creative person limbo."
I wanted to violate all the rules of polite society to shake them by the shoulders and tell them exactly how to get out of it. But, of course you can't do that without a person's enthusiastic consent to being shook.
So instead, I made a thing. A digital coaching experience that helps you plan out your creative career. To help you get to the title and the money and industry you want. To help you even know what’s possible.
I know you’ll be more than okay no matter what. I tend to attract the very best talents. That is my blessing and privilege in this life.
>>>But it’s here if you’re interested. Because you're ready to get out of limbo.
First round starts tomorrow.
XOXO,
Cathy
