Happy Father’s Day, y’all.
Father’s days and Mother’s Days…they can be tender, difficult days for people. If that’s you today…I’m sending you a digital hug.
So, I was a little girl once.
Not enough is written about how much little girls desperately need their dads — not simply their companionship, but the belief and support in their abilities and interests. We need dad who respect us and think of us as human beings who are capable of achieving great things.
I was really lucky to have a dad like this.
He took me to science museums.
We explored new cities together.
He encouraged me to live a life of adventure — and to pursue my happiness and interests at work.
He was always reinforcing me. Always telling me I could do things. Always on my side.
And when the time came, he coached me through how to write a cover letter. A resume.
How to navigate various workplace situations.
See, my dad ran a company and his experience was directly relevant to me when I started managing people.
I know there’s so many people who don’t have access to this type of support from their dads (or from anyone).
So, I wanted to let you know, in case you needed to hear it today:
You are important. Your interests are worthwhile. You are “going places.” I believe in you.
XOXO,
Cathy
