My kidsā clothes are almost always either too loose or too tight.
Depending on which items I grab in the morning rush, Alan will be either swimming in his clothesā¦OR a large portion of his ankles will be poking out conspicuously from the ends of his pant legs.
Every time I think Iāve got it, someone grows again ā so I get the next size up, which is always too big. And then weāre back to socks that go up to their knees and pants that I have to roll up or cut off to keep them from tripping.
It seems impossible for their clothing to fit perfectly. But I know that this is how it goes. Someday, theyāll hit their adult size, and things will level out.
Itās a good reminder that what some random company deems an āaverageā size range almost never applies to a real human beingās experience.
Itās also a good reminder that, in your career, everything is NOT going to fit exactly perfectly.
We all ātry things onā in our careers. Things sometimes donāt āfit wellā, and we canāt get comfortable. (Like me, trying to speak directly to a cameraā¦I LOVE being behind a camera, but I HATE being in front of one).
It might be that itās truly not right for usā¦or we just might not yet have grown enough to fit it properlyā¦but weāll get there!
Then again, sometimes something will fit like a glove for a long time and then we have a āgrowth spurtā - and it suddenly feels all wrong. Suddenly we can no longer be satisfied with how things always were.
Where are you in your career? Too loose, too tight, or just right?
ā Cathy
